Adam Lambert is Season 8's American Idol

In Round 2 of the American Idol Top 36 Eliminations, Adam Lambert Simply Blew the Others Away

Every year American Idol produces a few singers that are so good you can't really wrap your head around the fact that they don't already have a major label recording contract. Carrie Underwood was one. Chris Daughtry was another. And then there was Michael Johns. There were more. There will be more. But in the now of American Idol Season 8 we are faced with one vocalist that towers above the rest - Adam Lambert.

When Lambert first walked out in front of the judges with his punkish hair, retro-new wave style, and told them he was going to do Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," I told myself, "Uh-oh, not another one." You recognize the feeling, just about every time some American Idol contender says they're going to do Heart's "Alone" or "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" or anything by Whitney Houston. Inwardly you groan.

But Adam Lambert has pure vocal talent. His voice is sharp, immaculate, piercing. And the boy has range. He did a great job with "Bohemian Rhapsody" and this listener thought, "This guy could go all the way."

Adam Lambert is (was?) an understudy for the part of Fiyero in the theatrical production of "Wicked." He's been a part of the production for two years. Famewatcher.com tells us that Lambert had his theatrical breakout across from Val Kilmer in the stage production of "The Ten Commandments." Kilmer played Moses; Lambert had the role of Joshua.

Lambert hasn't wowed all the judges throughout the competition like sentimental favorite Danny Gokey. During Hollywood Week, they weren't overly thrilled with his performances and found that his theatricality was working against him. He told them he felt like he could do something different, not continue singing songs the same way everyone has heard them before. So he did Cher's "I Believe" and won them over to get through to the American Idol Top 36.

As part of Group 2, Adam Lambert told the audience he was going to do a song by his mother's favorite band, the greatest rock band in the world, the Rolling Stones: "Satisfaction." And I'm sitting, thinking, "You'd better make it yours, boy, because if not, the judges are going to tear you to shreds."

And he totally rearranged the tune. It started off sort of theatrical, a low and slow build-up into the chorus, where he kicked his powerful vocal chords into gear. Succinctly: Adam Lambert rocked the house. And at the end, he put in a Sebaatian Bach-like scream that could win awards.

He blew all the other contestants away in a one three-minute performance.

Paula Abdul was on her feet, applauding. She said she felt like she was at an "Adam Lambert concert." (And she was right.) Simon Cowell said some of the performance was great, some of it wasn't. (And he was wrong.) Randy Jackson said he "loved it" and that Lambert was the "most current" performer they had in the group. (Agreed. Agreed.) Kara DioGuardi told him he had "outrageous" vocal talent and had amazing range. (Ditto.)

Adam Lambert should make it through to the Final 12 as the top vote receiver for the guys, maybe overall. He was by far the best performer of Group 2 (sorry, Nick Mitchell). If he does not make it into the Final 12 through the voting audience, he should definitely get a place in the Wild Card Round. But Adam Lambert not getting the most votes for Round Two in the American Idol Top 36 elimination rounds would be criminal. Still, we've seen them voting public do it before.

Regardless, Adam Lambert is the one to watch. He's got the vocals. He's got the look. He's one of the most talented artists they've had on the show in its entire eight years.

Adam Lambert has got my vote to be the next American Idol.

I laugh at those who say he lost, Adam won the world, just like his fans always knew.He is the best and greatest talent Idol has ever had and he didn't lose, he was in the final and lost to a safe mediocre talent, the kind that demographic always votes for.

Great singer and entertainer. Looks like he'll go far in the music world, and only needed American Idol to let the public see what he could do. Never mind the voting results, such as they are (voting more than once? Come on, how can that be counted, if only the ones who know how to keep voting for the same one can be real?)
Aam's other videos, songs show what he has accomplished, and it's far above the other Idols, past or present, or any other singer since Elvis. Yes, Elvis ... who led them all until now.

If you are saying artist can't be on the show if they are all ready recording then Kris Allen, Matt G and Allison would't have made the show. Both Kris and Matt G have records out before the show came out. Allison won the Telemundo contest 2 years ago a 60,000.00 prize. Adam was an understudy on a LA production which is not Broadway and he writes his own music but never had a recording contract and only has self made demo tapes not actual records. So you are wrong thinking Adam was big time. In fact Kris Allen and Matt G were farther along in recording and the business than Adam. As Adam has said he was barely paying the bills and life was a hustle just to make it. When he auditioned he was currently in between jobs...which means without one. Both Matt and Kris were still employed.

I didn't find anything wrong with Adam's pictures on the internet. In high school you see that type of affection in the hallways, by lockers and if you think your kids aren't kissing their boyfriends or girlfriends think again. Most of these kids are having sex at the age of 13, a statistical fact. Adam Lambert is a great mentor he said he only kisses the people he is in a relationship with and he promotes safe sex. I think that is great he pushes monogomy and safe sex. Him kissing his boyfriends is no different than you kissing your significant other. Or are you just offended because it was a same sex kiss?

Adam Lambert is my American Idol. Especially because of the last part of that title...IDOL. Yes he is the full package and the leader of that group. It isn't just his name, face, voice, moves, it is all of him that makes me want to do better in my life. He has become a symbol of strife and conquering great odds against you. The stuff he went thru in that contest that others didn't have to deal with...crazy. Branden Rogers a past American Idol was mocking Adam Lambert in front of his fans on Idol Wrap! That isn't cool. Ace Young who just did 6 months on Broadway in Grease also showed poor regard against Adam Lambert on Idol Wrap. These are other American Idols who did not live up to their American Idol names and because of their disdain looked like **ses on National TV and lost fans. My family of 21 as examples. We won't buy Ace or Branden's music anymore. Part of being an Idol is to be objective not opinionated and slam on other artist that is poor sportsmanship. They need

I think the american people are thinking wrong about this contest. Talent have no sex orientation...and Adam was the most talented of all. Sory, but short minded people should not have the telephone...

Tonya, but yet you feel it's all right for your kids to "idolize" a young woman who had been raped, had teen pregnancy, physically abused by her baby's father, and dropped out from high school? [fantasia barrino, if you haven't already know]

get a grip, it's a singing contest, not a morality contest, so come down now from that high horse of yours.
