Adam Lambert Wows on American Idol

Top 13 Performance of the Seventh Season of American Idol

Tuesday night during the top 13 performance of the eighth season of American Idol, there were several memorable performances-and not all of them in a good way. By far, the performance of the night was Adam Lambert singing recent Michael Jackson hit "Black and White".

Even judge Simon Cowell said that the performance was in a different league from others of the night-and there were some surprisingly good performances. It is clear from Tuesday's performance that Adam Lambert will go far, regardless of whether America votes correctly.

After Lambert's performance, the audience went wild, on their feet and cheering. Judge Paula Adbul, who is generally over the top in her praise anyway, actually hit the nail on the head when she said, "Never in the history of American Idol have we ever seen someone so comfortable on that stage." She then added another sentiment that surely the whole audience shares:"You've got the whole package going on."

Adam Lambert, with his dark hair, smoky eyes and lean physique, definitely has the rock star look down pat. He is almost reminiscent of David Cook, American Idol season seven winner. However, there is one major difference between the two: Lambert is better looking. I also had my doubts about David Cook in the beginning (although he definitely won me over later), but Adam Lambert has my heart and soul starting now.

Record Deals in the Future for Adam Lambert?

Paula also expressed surprise that no one has snapped this bad boy up and offered him a record deal already. Randy Jackson agreed, adding "You could make a record right now and sail to the top of the charts...Baby, you've got it."

New judge Kara Dioguardi liked it too, saying, "I hope Michael Jackson is watching this tonight."

Adam Lambert is a 26-year-old theater actor who hails from Hollywood. In fact, his theater career began 16 years ago in a production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown". Unlike many actors who participate in musical theater, it is not just a pastime for Adam-it is actually how he makes his living.

It seems that his experience on the stage has helped him, because he does appear to be absolutely comfortable up there, having fun with the audience and squeezing a stunning performance into every note and word.

Whether America votes as they should and keeps Lambert on the American Idol stage for the rest of the season or he goes home prematurely, Adam Lambert is sure to be a star. By this time next year, many of us will own his album and listen to him on the radio. Best of luck, Adam!
