Adam Lambert's April 14 Performance on American Idol

Putting the Pedal to the Metal with "Born to Be Wild"

Tonight, Adam Lambert, the makeup-clad rock star from Los Angeles, proved, once again, that he is worthy to be considered a top contender for American Idol.

This week's theme was "Music from the Cinema." Amongst the boring, non-exciting performances that made an embarrassment of American Idol tonight, Adam Lambert was one of the only two, maybe three, contestants that I considered good. He earned top spot over the others. His metal-heavy rendition of "Born to be Wild" from the movie "Easy Rider" was the reason. From the tip of the beginning, to the very end, his vocals were strong, and I couldn't find a single flaw within. I especially enjoyed the metal breakdowns in his version that reflected his personality. His physical performance matched his vocal. It's no surprise that Adam was in musical theatre, the way he danced around, and rocked out that stage. Even though Simon (of course) didn't care for the physical performance, this IS a singing competition, and it was said that he liked it. I more than liked it. From the kickin' vocals, to the crazy performance, to Adam being back in makeup like I remembered, I was very impressed.

Apparently, so was the audience. I paid attention to how much cheering that he, and the second top contender, Danny Gokey got, and Adam got way, way more. The cheering barely stopped so the judges could respond to Adam's performance. Even then, and it may be because American Idol was pressed for time, there was only time for two judges--Paula and Simon--to respond. I'd like to think it was because of the length of the crowd's cheering. I was here at home, cheering right along with them.

If Adam Lambert continues delivering amazing, versatile, flawless performances like he did tonight, and continues to avoid the bottom three for the next several weeks, I believe he's fully going to steal my heart away from Danny Gokey. He practically has already. He's the only contestant that gives me chills, and sometimes brings tears to my eyes, every week.

This was one of Adam Labert's best American Idol performances, hands down.

Thanks! Honestly, Simon can kiss it. This is a singing competition, and Adam can sing... VERY WELL! I used to be a hardcore Danny girl, but Adam has proven himself week after week. I think it'll come down to him and Danny for the finale. My dad thinks it'll be Allison. While sure, she can kind of sing, she's got a terrible personality. She reminds me of someone in my town who I cannot stand. An American Idol needs to be likable. She is not. Hell, if Tatiana had been likable, she probably would have made it further.

He has charisma and a certain magnetism but I don't know how Simon feels about him winning, since he certainly doesn't appear to be an "underdog". I was looking at Britains Got Talent the other night and comparing the shows and felt that the rather plain woman who amazed Simon is more along the lines of what he wants to see- someone who surprises him.

Adam is pure excitement! Although Anoop & Kris sang beautifully, it wasn't exciting and I've already forgotten the songs.
Adam is impossible to forget no matter what he sings. Everything he's done so far has been stuck in my head daily. My husband's head too - he gets up in the morning and makes requests to hear Adam's songs! My 4 year old also requests & sings Adam's songs. it's hysterical...
