Adam Lambert's Twitter War with Adam Levine (By Proxy) Over "The Voice" Snub

Adam Lambert Says It's All Good that Adam Levine Never Heard His Song Before, but His Fans Got a Bit Irate

You might think that a full-on snub by the frontman for Maroon 5 might have gotten Adam Lambert's do all up in a pompadour, but the glam rocker simply waved it off like it was nada. However, his followers did not. Glambert fans got a little testy with "The Voice" vocal coach Adam Levine, according to MJsBigBlog, over the perceived slight of Lambert and his Grammy-nominated hit, "Whataya Want From Me."

It all apparently started Tuesday when one of the singer's on rival "The Voice" judge Cee Lo Green's team, Nakia, performed Lambert's hit "Whataya Want From Me." When asked to judge his performance, Levine said, "I'm not familiar with that song, but you just forced me to like it. I'm pretty sure, although I've never heard that song before...that you probably sang it better than the person that sang it originally. So, good job."

All Twitter hell broke loose. Every Adam Lambert fan from California to Singapore chimed in angrily or perplexedly with comments reflecting their collective beliefs that, as noted by MJ, "a. Levine never heard Adam's hit song, and b. That he'd assume that Nakia sang the song better than Adam."

Still, even though the Glambert Nation had a problem with it, the defended did not. Lambert later posted to Twitter: "Yeah Nakia! Saaaang boy!! Great performance. I think Adam might know who I am after this next album. Get ready for me Levine. Hahah...But for the record, Im def a Maroon 5 fan. Fans: there is NO reason to be angry. Thanks for being protective but it's all good."

Nakia himself took to Twitter to attempt to bring down some of the hostility, asking fans not to "hate on @adamlevine."

But Levine wasn't having none of it. Per Twitter: "I had honestly never heard that song before. I thought that @nakia made me like a song that would have otherwise fallen flat. I'm NOT sorry."

Levine followed up with: "No disrespect intended for @adamlambert ...I honesty had never heard the song before. I'm not one to take cheap shots like that."

It was pointed out that the comment may have been intended for Lambert fans to get annoyed and take it out on Nakia, considering he was part of Cee Lo's team.

But you can't have a Twitter war of words when the main participants don't want to fight, as the Glambert Nation found out, finally discovering the answer to the age-old question: "Suppose they gave a war and nobody came?" (actually, it is a movie title derived from a slogan used during the Vietnam War, but let's try not to fight about it). Since Lambert himself refused to be offended and Levine refused to add offense to unintended offense, there seems to be a lot of one-sided offense and absolutely no defense.

Unfortunately, Nakia was eliminated Wednesday evening, missing the Final Four.

"The Voice," with Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton, and Christina Aguilera will return for the final round of competition next week when the Final Four perform for the championship.
