Adams Idea Pro Forged Irons Review

A Perfect Blend for the Better Player

It's been no secret that since Taylor Made introduced the Rescue Hybrid that hybrids are simply easier to hit. They launch the ball high, are more forgiving than long irons, and everyone can hit them. Except for pros at that time. They simply hit the ball too high for them to feel comfortable with and it was not until the early 2000's that they started to make "players" hybrids that would help keep the ball down and would look good to the better player.

Adams Idea Pro Forged Irons and Hybrids feature a mixed set that Adams has been known for for some time. The irons are forged with a slight cavity to add forgiveness to off center hits. They have a good classic look with a thin top line and minimal offset that the better player prefers. What makes this combo set different from others are the hybrids. They hybrids are more compact with less offset than most others. This gives the player the ability to work the ball with them as well as appeal to their eye. They feature an adjustable weight port for feel and a custom steel face for faster ball speed.

The look of this set is incredible. They are, and look like a set for the better player, however I noticed they were very forgiving. The way the clubs from hybrids to irons responded to off center hits was incredible. For a forged iron, I was not losing much distance and was not thrown too far off line when I hit the ball less than perfectly. They hybrids were also forgiving, and a little lower launching than other hybrids I have tried, but still with a better ball flight than long irons. These clubs are definitely part of the reason some of the games better players are sticking with Adams. They look good, can be worked however the player would want to move the ball, and are forgiving all at the same time! I hit all types of shots with each club and was simply amazed at how the ball flew. I could hit draws and fades with their hybrids, hit little low shots with them as well. The gap between 4 hybrid and 5 iron was right on with no huge jump in distance change. The short irons flew on a nice penetrating ball flight for control and the reaction I got on the greens were a perfect balance of spin and control.

I think the better player should look into these. It does not hurt to throw a hybrid or two in the bag in this day and age of everyone but the very best player in the world looking for easier hitting clubs to help them score! Check out my other Adams reviews, I am going through all my notes of clubs I have tested and will share them with you soon!
