Adams Insight BTY Driver Review

Adams Long Bomber

Well, with the news that Aaron Baddeley and Rory Sabbatini have just joined their Pro Staff. Adams Golf is poised to make a run at the larger OEM golf companies out there in 2008. They have finally started to get players outside of the Champions and LPGA Tours in hopes that some high profile names will add to sales for the new year.

The Insight BTY driver is what Badds and Rory will most likely be playing in 2008. The BTY is Adams premier players driver with a clean, classic 460cc head is something that everyone will fall in love with, but is also what tour pros love the most when they look down at a driver! The BTY a very thin, very hard Titanium face that allows for higher ball speeds off the club face that reach the maximum allowed by the USGA. The face is also very light allowing the designers to move more weight to the rear and perimeter of the club to maximize distance further. An adjustable weight port in the sole of the BTY gives players the chance to better shape their shots and customize their ball flight.

When I took this driver for a spin the first thing I noticed was that it looked great, set up square and had a Graffaloy Pro Launch Red shaft. The Pro Launch Red is destined for the stronger player in mind to help create a more penetrating ball flight and allow for greater workability. The club felt very solid in my hands with a slightly heavier swing weight than I am used to in my personal driver. The ball really rocketed off the club face with this club and the Pro Launch Red shaft really does it's job. It's like shooting darts from a rifle with this club! The ball had a nice high initial flight, then flattened out and stayed there for a good while before coming back to Earth. I was really drilling some balls with this club which made me want to try a few things. I hit some draws and fades with this club and it responded perfectly. I believe the square club face and the shaft really made it possible to get the ball to move however I wanted. In the end there was nothing I could do to make this club feel bad, or hit a bad shot! Off center hits also flew straight, and while they did not stay airborne as long as a solid strike, I only lost about 10 yards per mis hit!

If you are a better player who has always stayed away from Adams due to its past life as a "hackers" company. Than look again and give the Insight BTY driver a try! You WILL be surprised!
