Adams Spot-On Flea and Tick Control

Is Adams Really Comparible to Other Treatments?

RebeccaLynn
Here we are in the dog days of summer and the dogs are uncomfortable. A hundred times a day, my husband and I issue the same command to our two Blue Healers; "Stop that chewing!" Our boys know exactly what we are saying to them and even though the fleas are driving them mad, they will stop chewing for about five minutes.

Normally we buy Frontline* for our boys but recently our local co-op ran out of Frontline*. I asked for K9Advantix* but no luck there either. Seems that our boys aren't the only ones suffering. I needed a solution fast. Our boys are literally chewing themselves bloody. My only other recourse was Walmart where I was happy to find Adams Spot-On Flea and Tick Control.

This is a once a month treatment that promises to kill ticks, fleas and flea larvae as well as prevent flea eggs from hatching. It also promises to repel mosquitoes - the number one cause of heart worms. At $10.00 for a three month course, I thought I had finally found an affordable product to relieve my dogs' suffering.

The first difference that I noticed between Adams and my usual brand was how to apply the product to your pet. Rather than apply the entire tube between the shoulder blades, you must apply half of the tube between the shoulder blades and half at the base of the tail. That isn't an easy task with high energy dogs that don't want to hold still for application to the second site.

The product has a strong, unpleasant smell. It is also a very greasy product that sat on top of the skin for about 45 minutes, during which time, we had to keep the boys right in front of us to keep them from licking the product off of their skin.

48 hours later, our boys still have fleas and are still chewing themselves senseless. The mosquitoes still like them and I see no signs of this product keeping a single promise.

If your veterinarian or co-op happen to run out of your favorite flea and tick treatment, you may want to wait for them to get a new shipment. It will save you $10.00 and your pet will appreciate not having to go through what our dogs have had to endure.

let the hysteria begin..these products work and are safe for the vast majority of dogs.I have been using them for years on many dogs and they worked, never had bad reactions and all dogs lived longer than their expected life spans. All medications and product have side effects for some pets but these products are safe for most dogs. Even the vet sold products have side effects.

This stuff is poison!! If your dog has any sensitivity to pesticides stay away. Even if they don't, this is a harsh chemical. I should not have used it on my dog and when I had to take him to my vet because of a sever reaction, my vet told me I was crazy to use something like this.

Also One of my Shih Tzu has all these terrible spots on his back and he is loosing his hair up and down his back. I would never reccomend this product to anyone. I am now calling the pet store to see if they have and guarantee. I doubt they do but its worth a try.

I recently bought this as well. I have moved to a different state and the pet store I went to did not offer Frontline (this is my usual brand of choice as it kills fleas ticks and larvae), I was extremely dissapointed as after a week of it being on my dogs and cats they still have fleas. It smells and it also left all of my animals extrmely dirty looking. Try bathing a cat with claws in flea shampoo. I would not recommend this product to anyone. I paid $18 for a three month treatment. I have small dogs, two cats and one large dog. That is a total of three boxes that I had to purchase. Now I have to wait another three weeks to treat my animals with anything else.

Adams flea and tick is the worst product EVER!!! It caused my dog to have to be rushed to the emergency room and has severe chemical burns all over her back:( The Vet said it is a pestacide and that is the stuff you put on your yard. My poor dog is in so much pain and some of her hair might not grow back. Help spread the word DO NOT USE>>>
