Adams Tech A4 Drivers

I'll admit I have not been much of an Adams Golf fan over the years. While their hybrids still dominate most pro tours, I have never been a huge fan. No real reason, just another golf company making comparable stuff to everyone else. That does not however, keep me from testing and reviewing their equipment! I'll hit anything I can get my hands on, I love new golf clubs!

The Adams Insight Tech a4 driver has been around for a little while now and has even seen some tour action. It offers a pleasing look, sound, and feel. It has a 460cc Titanium head, and comes in 8.5*, 9.5*, and 10.5* lofts and R,S,X flex shafts.

As stated, it looks and feels and sounds great! I don't enjoy this driver as much as their Speed Line series, but it has the makings of a great driver nonetheless, that and the fact that it has been on multiple pro tours suggests that more people then myself like it!

Like most drivers today it has its perks and for me, one glaring mistake. The perks: A large forgiving Titanium head, classic pear shape that looks great when you set it down, workability for better golfers, yet enough forgiveness that anyone can hit it, appropriate weighting to create high launch low spin conditions for maximum distance. Now for the mistake and number one pet peeve with today's drivers being sold off the rack: It's Too Long!!! Its 45.5" which is 1" over what I think most amateur golfers should be swinging. While that is a Matrix Ozik shaft, which is a very fine shaft by the way, I find it too difficult for the average player to square the club face up consistently, thus, losing more distance and accuracy that you would get from a solid strike.

Now again, this is the way of the golf equipment world these days, and unless I am fitting golfers for the club it is just the way it is going to stay so I will try not to let that fact hamper what is a really great feeling, great looking club. This is what I call an all around driver. The ability for average and better golfers alike to pick it up and make it work. It has just enough forgiveness for the weekend player, and the looks and workability for the better player. I would highly suggest giving it a try!

Stay Tuned,

Mike
