Flax seed is incredibly good for you. It's full of Omega-3's and other healthful nutrients. Unfortunately, some people have a hard time figuring out how to work them into their daily diet. I've found some ways to work them in, and hopefully it will help you enjoy this wonderfully healthy food.
- Sprinkle flax seeds into your cereal. It may sound odd, but since flax seeds don't have much flavor, you'll hardly notice that they're there. I've mixed them into Rice Crispies, Raisin Nut Bran, Oatmeal Crisp, Corn Flakes and others. You can probably mix them into just about any cereal you already eat.
- Grind your flax seeds in a spice grinder or with a mortar and pestle and mix them in with your favorite stuffing mix.
- If you make your own bread, you can add whole flax seeds, or if you can find it, use flax seed flour in the recipe.
- Sprinkle the flax seeds into your salad.
- Add whole or ground flax seed to any rice dish or noodle dish.
- Grind flax seed and add it to any sauce or dip you might create. It adds a slight oily nut taste when ground, so keep that in mind when choosing what dips and sauces you include the flax seeds in.
With all of the amazing health benefits that flax seed and flax oil can provide, it's well worth finding ways to work this great food into your diet. With it's subtle flavor and light texture, it can be easily incorporated into a wide variety of dishes. Try experimenting with different ways of adding flax to your diet and you'll soon be reaping all it's healthy rewards.
