Add Gin to Your Cinco De Mayo Celebration

DiamondJewelSpiritHeaven
Gin is a popular drink that has been around for a long time. It is often marketed and presented with an air of class and sophistication. It has a mild flavor that is very suitable for mixing with many different beverages. Some gin has a little kick that blends well with anything bubbly. Gin and tonic and gin and (orange) juice are very popular bar combinations and are enjoyed everyday everywhere from local bars and taverns to the hottest night clubs and restaurants.

For Cinco de Mayo though, you may want to experiment with some new gin combinations. Cinco de Mayo is a very festive occasion and this is a very pivotal and exciting year in American history. The Cinco de Mayo parties are bound to reflect this energy and so should the gin drinks that you serve your guests.

First things first; there are some very popular gins on the market today. The best quality ones are Beefeater, Bombay Sapphire, Gordon's, Tanqueray and Seagram's. If money is a little tight for you this year; you might want to consider just purchasing a no name brand of gin. This gin would be considered rail gin at your local bar. Be careful though if you drink too much of the cheap stuff. It is known to give pretty back hangovers when compared to the more expensive stuff.

Gin mixes well with soda. One soda it mixes especially well with is Dr. Pepper. Just like Dr. Pepper, gin mixes just fine with most typical sodas such as Coke and Pepsi or just plain store brand store cola. A fun type of soda to mix with gin is to use the natural sodas at Whole Foods and other healthy food stores. These sodas sometimes have an unexpected kick and unique refreshing flavor because they are natural. This is very appealing and gives your party drink a unique quality not found elsewhere.

A fun way to have gin is to mix it with mountain dew and grenadine and add a maraschino cherry. This is called a Cherry Pop. This is a pretty inexpensive drink to make; yet it gives the taste of a more expensive and complicated drink mixing process.

Another good way to enjoy gin is to mix it with Malibu Coconut Rum, 7 up and Coconut milk. This is absolutely yummy and a little tropical and sweet called the Coconut Surprise.

Amaretto also goes well with gin. Add a little orange juice, a touch of sour mix and grenadine and you have a drink to rival a $10 drink at a bar. Serve in a tall glass with an umbrella or funky straw. Another recipe with citrus flavor that goes well with gin is lime juice. For a strong, but flavor filled drink; mix vodka, a little fresh lime juice a little fresh lemon juice and some grape juice. This is fruity and delicious; somewhat like a jolly rancher.

If you can get your hands on Galliano herbal liquer; you can mix that with apple juice, cinnamon and gin for a tasty drink that your guests aren't expecting.

Happy Cinco De Mayo!
