Add an MP3 Player to Your MySpace Page

Julie Boehlke
Are you looking to add a few more extras to your dull looking MySpace page? Are you looking for something cool, hip and fun that others will be in awe about every time they view your page?

Most people use their music as the major theme and backdrop for what their MySpace page stands for. Background music can also be an expression of what your personality and mood represents.

There are Widgets floating about on the world wide web that have been created to allow you to add individualized music players to your MySpace page that provide a more eye appealing look rather than the traditional default music player that MySpace currently offers. By simply adding a stylish and trendy MP3 Replica widget to your page, you can make your page stand out from all of the rest.

The interesting little interactive items allow you to add flair, character and function to your own space. Some of the most popular widgets are realistic looking Ipods and MP3 players, that allow you to play several tunes from your favorite artists. You can personalize the MP3 widget and set it up to automatically play when someone visits your page. You can also use this media player widget for your own personal use, such as having it playing in the background while you read your comments.

The MP3 player that I have found to be the most user friendly is located on the website called MyFlashFetish.

At MyFlashFetish, you can download several different styles of widgets such as ones that resemble and look like real virtual Ipods. There is also a variety of different styled MP3 players, cassette tapes, mini boom boxes, Teddy Bears and even an old school Nintendo Controller called "Pretendo". You can easily customize your MySpace music player with a variety of different patterns and colors.

There are other widget sites that offer music players but none are can be as personalized and appear as trendy as the ones offered for free at MyFlashFetish.

Once you reach the site, you can begin to personalize and choose what you want your music player to look like. After you select the style and color that you like, you will then be able to then add your favorite tunes to be able play on your music player. Many choose to use music they already have saved on their computer. MyFlashFetish makes it easy in assisting you in the search for these tunes simply by clicking the search button to the right of the setup page. Media file sharing sites such as Bxstr and File Den allow you to store some of your favorite MP3 songs without taking up extra space on your computer. These sites are friendly to the MyFlashFetish website and are the most compatible with most of their widgets.

You can easily download your favorite music to your computer by burning tracks from your favorite CD to your windows media player, or if you have a subscription to Itunes or other file sharing sites you can use that music also.

There are several different places you can add your music player to your MySpace page. Either under your "Who I'd like to Meet section", "About me section", or the "Interests" and "music" section.

After you have set up your music player on MyFlashFetish, you will need to find the HTML code that has the widget embedded into the line. All you need to do is to simply click on or near the widget, and locate the HTML code. Many times the code is located in a box underneath your newly designed widget. This code will place the newly designed music player onto your MySpace page and make it fully functional.

You will then proceed to click control C and highlight the entire box to copy the code. Then go back to your MySpace log in page and enter your email and password. Proceed to click on your edit profile information which is directly under your picture. On the next page choose the Personal Info tab. You will find several sections with many codes underneath the headings. Locate the desired section that you want your widget to appear in, for example; the "About Me" section. Scroll through and go to the very end of the HTML codes in the box, ( be careful not to move any of the line characters around or delete them in any way, this will disrupt the codes and cause your background on your MySpace to not work properly.) Take your cursor and enter about two or three spaces from the last line. This will separate the background set up codes from the widget. Then with your cursor on the correct spot, hit control V, this should have copied the widget code into the designated section.

Make sure you save all of your profile information before you leave the page. Go back to your main page and choose to view profile. You should see your new music player in the designated section. Depending on how many music files you have uploaded to your widget, It may take a few more seconds than usual for the page to load.

You should now be able to enjoy your new music player. The fun thing about it is if you want to listen different tunes, or your mood changes, you can always go back to the website and add or delete more music and even change the look of your player.

After just a few times of downloading different music players designed just for your MySpace, you will surely be hooked.

It is the individuality and uniqueness of virtual reality that keeps us coming back for more! Widgets like Ipod inspired music players, allow us to create and express ourselves in ways we may not be able to in real life.

So don't feel guilty, go ahead and download that new Ipod to your MySpace page. Save your credit card for something more important other than expensive electronics, a widget is free, and what's better than free? After all it is only Cyberspace!
