"Addams Family" costumes are great for group Halloween costumes. They're also fairly easy to make from clothing in your closet or from the thrift store. You can easily model your "Addams Family" costumes on the TV series from the 60s or on the movies that were made in the 90s.

To make a 60s Gomez Addams costume, get a black or charcoal gray double-breasted pinstriped suit, a slender 60s tie, a pocket watch on a chain and black formal shoes. If you don't have dark hair and a mustache, purchase a dark wig and paste on a mustache with spirit gum. For best results, apply a little Brylcreem, hair gel or pomade to your hair or wig. For a 90s look, pair a double-breasted pin-striped suit with bolder, two-toned stripes with a bow tie and carry a slender cigar.

To create a 60s Morticia Addams costume, find a close-fitting black full length formal dress with a deep V neck. Sew some frayed sheer fabric to the sleeves of the dress. If you want to make the Morticia costume look more authentic, you can also add some long, snaky black fabric extensions to the hem of the dress. If your hair isn't the right length or color, wear a long black wig. Add a small pendant on a slender chain and long blood-red fingernails to make the60s Morticia costume complete. To model your Morticia Addams costume after the movies from the 1990s, omit the snaky extensions and add some shorter pieces of frayed opaque black fabric to the ends of the sleeves.

You can make a 60s Wednesday Addams costume by getting a short black dress with long sleeves and white buttons down the front. Add a white pilgrim collar and cuffs. Add black tights or hose and short black boots. For a 90s Wednesday Addams costume, use a dark-colored dress with a small flower print. Add a smaller circular white collar, but skip the cuffs. Style your hair in braided pigtails or wear a long braided dark brown or black wig. The Pugsley Addams costume is probably the easiest "Addams Family" costume to make. For the 60s Pugsley costume, find a multi-colored short-sleeved crew-neck shirt with horizontal stripes, long black shorts, dark striped socks and black shoes. To make the 90s Pugsley costume, get a shirt with bold black and white striped shirt and tall black socks to go with the long black shorts.

Make a 60s Cousin Itt "Addams Family" costume by assembling a long wig that flows from the top of your head all the way down to your feet. You can do this by purchasing several extra long brown wigs and sewing them together. Add a black derby hat and sunglasses. Try to create a gap in the hair behind the sunglass lenses so that you can see well enough to walk around. To make your Cousin Itt costume after the 90s movies, you could use a decorative large cowboy hat, bandanna and belt with guns in holsters over the wigs. costume Make a 60s Uncle Fester Addams costume by pairing a long black bathrobe or coat with a rope belt. Either shave your head or wear a bald cap. For a more 90s "Addams Family" look, cover your face and hands with pale makeup and paint dark circles around your eyes.

If someone in your group is very tall, have him go as Lurch, the "Addams Family" butler. For a 60s Lurch costume, just get a black single-breasted suit, white button-down shirt and black bow tie. Style your hair in a relatively short layered style with the bangs brushed forward. To make a 90s Lurch costume, use a white shirt with a detachable wing collar and add an old-fashioned black cravat. Tie the cravat at the neckline to create a small gap between the loose ends. Wear pale makeup and apply darker makeup around the eyes and in the cheek hollows to exaggerate the contours of your face.
