Adderall: Good or Bad for ADD/ ADHD?

James Dylan
I have had ADD since I was in elementary school but my parents never wanted to get me tested because they were afraid of the effects it might have on me. After I started college I realized how bad my ADD was and decided to get some help. I went through half of my first semester without Adderall and made grades ranging from "okay" grades to "not okay" grades. My biggest problem was history class. My first tow tests graded a 43 and a 59. After half of the semester I decided to go and get tested for ADD. I tested positive and got prescribed to Adderall. I was put on a schedule to take one pill in the morning and one at noon. After starting the drug, I took my third test in history and scored a 94. Not only that, but all of my other grades greatly increased as well.

Adderall greatly increased my concentration. It made me go into class and want to learn. Before, I could hardly read a page out of a book without having to go over most of the sentences twice. Now, its no problem. Some of the symptoms of ADD/ADHD, my doctor said, is being impatient, being disrespectful towards others and having a bad attitude towards others. Now, after taking Adderall, I'm much more patient and much nicer towards others. It has completely changed my attitude. It has also helped me to stay awake and class and be more alert. It has made me more productive during the day and I get a lot more done.

There are some things to be aware of though. After taking it, it did decrease my appetite. Although it keeps me from being hungry, I know when I need to eat and eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is also said to be addictive, but I have not experienced any need to take more than what I'm supposed to take. I just stay on my normal schedule. One other thing is that it increases weakness. It will help you to stay awake. So, if you take it too late during the day, it will keep you from sleeping at night. But this shouldn't happen as long as you don't take it too late in the day and you stay on the right schedule. I have not experienced any negative effects from this drug. I am very happy with Adderall and how it has helped me improve in school and out of school.
