She ambled through the store.
She watched him surreptitiously.
What fascinated her more?
She thought suspiciously.
Was it the swagger, the eyes,
The darkness and danger there?
The niggling in her belly a surprise,
She didn't want to stare.
She caught herself,
Feeling her stomach melt,
Fluidly oh the want,
Desire starting to haunt.
Danger she sensed,
Wanting desire spent,
Spirit reaching out to spirit,
Caution went.
Eyes flirting,
Mouth moist.
Pulling away
Feeling the invisible cord,
Sparks warming,
Leave before control is lost.
He feels her almost tangible,
Addiction calling to addiction.
Sending silent signals.
Leave! Her head says before you can't.

Post a CommentWow. Amazing!
wow what a truly remarkable poem
I wanted to add that she did not act out on her addiction. It is horrifying how many addictions that one can have. I heard a priest say once that man is an addictive animal. we are by nature trying to fill the hole in the soul that only God can fill.
Very poignant.
I'm sure this could apply to many different addictions-it is very sad. Your poem is really well written-and as some have said that makes it disturbing because it makes you feel like you are the one experiencing it.
provocative..love it
Wow, well done.
I hope she took her own advice.
This is so well done, Shana, and a little disturbing.
Fascinating, Shana!!! I really like this..:)
