Addiction intervention for Lindsay Lohan failed this week, as friends tried to get the troubled actress to enter rehab by cornering her in a bathroom. As reported at the Sun Times, Lohan walked away from the situation, leaving friends and business associates to worry, once gain.

Addiction intervention for Lindsay Lohan began years ago

Lindsay Lohan made a splash on the big screen in her appearance as the adorable little freckled face red head in The Parent Trap (1998). Not only was she cute, but her acting skills were remarkable for a girl who was not yet a teenager. However, as the years went on, she developed an alcohol and drug problem filled with car crashes, jail and stints in rehab. As Lohan told People Magazine in 2007, "It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs."

Lindsay Lohan seemed to find happiness with Samantha Ronson

For a time, it seemed that Lindsay Lohan was finally headed in the right direction. In 2008, the actress was seen with DJ Samantha Ronson, and rumors were a buzz that the two women were in lesbian relationship. That rumor was confirmed by Lohan herself in Harper's Bazaar where a glowing Lindsay appeared on the cover. "I think it's pretty obvious who I'm seeing. I think it's no shock to anyone that it's been going on for quite some time...She's a wonderful person, and I love her very much," Lindsay said.

Lindsay seemed happy with Samantha and fans began to see a healthier woman who did not appear to be on drugs or alcohol. However, Lohan broke up with Ronson in April of 2009 and since then Samantha is one of the people who is concerned about Lohan.

Addiction intervention for Lindsay Lohan should be handled properly

Although Lohan's friends meant well in cornering Lohan in the bathroom, an addiction intervention must be handled properly in order for it to be effective. As explained at the Treatment Solutions Network, people who wish to stage an intervention for an addicted individual should carefully plan, seek professional help from an interventionist and request that the interventionist be present, if possible. But one of the most important things that happens during an intervention is what happens when the addicted individual says yes or no. If they say yes, you take them to treatment immediately. If they say no, consequences must be employed immediately. Cornering in a bathroom, spur of the moment, with no plan, is not the way to go for an addiction intervention for Lindsay Lohan.
