Adding One Letter at a Time, Then Subtracting Again
I
am
too
darn
silly
some
say
to
I.
Makes little sense and sure doesn't read like any "poem" to me, but whatever... Here's the next type, adding one word per line, then subtracting, then again adding at the end. I imagine you could also add one syllable per line.
Leaving
After
You left
Before you returned
To get your coat
I saw the white envelope
Which held a short reason why
You were leaving without even a good-bye
But you saw me when you came back
My face had signs of tear tracks
You crumbled and said, "Don't cry."
I just said, "oh, why
Can you leave when
I can win
Your heart
Back...
Please...
I'll try.

Post a CommentOk, this is helpful to see examples. Your second is very poignant. Wish I'd tried this challenge, but it had a *gasp* MATH word in its label! ; ) The picture image is stunning.
Great job! Never quite figured out why such constrictive types of poetry were invented. Perhaps to be an extra challenge? You did an excellent job using the style and yet conveying a complete message.
Excellent Addition poems. The second one was quite touching. I am enjoying writing these and am new here. Nice to meet all these nice people
I'm enjoying learning about all these different types of poems. I didn't try an addition poem, but I wish I had! I like the look of the adding, and then subtracting words...Very nicely done, Sandra. :)
Great stuff!
Good stuff!
Well done. I haven't tried addition poetry yet.
I tried this yesterday with adding one letter onto the next line, didn't realise you could do them this way as well.
Love the second one! I was too busy yesterday to try this one..might do it later just to try.
