Addressing the Issue of Medical Care and Illegal Aliens
Should Illegals Receive Medical Care in the United States?
I am a United States citizen living without any medical insurance and yes I do have a problem with the amount of medical care given to illegals when I myself have none.
There are several issues regarding this matter and I feel they should be addressed.
First off, I myself have had to go to a community hospital and receive emergency medical treatment and was issued a bill and at the time I had no income. I paid my bill when I could and eventually paid it off. My only question is this.
Do the illegals also get sent a bill just as I did ? Whether they have an income should not be considered for it was not considered for me.
Second, if they are in the United States that means they are physically living in some sort of housing so receiving a bill should not be an issue. How many illegal aliens do you see as homeless?
Third and the most important issue to address the humanity issue.
I believe as far as children are concerned NO child regardless of citizenship should ever be denied any medical attention. Could you actually send a hurt or very ill child away from care because they are not a legal citizen? I know I could not and would not.
Now we need to address the issue of the adult illegal needing medical care.
This is where it can be touchy. Should we allow adult illegals medical attention?
If they also receive a bill just as any other United States citizen does then by all means yes they should receive medical attention. The standards should be the same including any actions taken for non- payment.
However, we still run into the problem if they do not get billed then should they be allowed medical attention.
In any life and death situation citizenship should NOT matter and they should receive medical care this should not be an issue.
Now we come to the matter of basic medical care non life threatening.
This is where our humanity issue steps in and where I had a problem on this issue.
I do not like getting billed when others do not and that is the problem however, if one stops and looks at it logically and humanely, yes they should receive medical care and for very important reasons.
We have an influx of medical conditions coming back into our society and until we get a handle on our borders this influx will continue and thus tuberculosis and such illnesses and diseases will prevail and to NOT address this issue could possibly cause serious epidemics. It is for this reason that my attitude has done a change on this line of thought. I still do not like paying while others don't but if it prevents or even helps prevent serious epidemics among our own citizens then I may have to bite the bullet and will do so. So in my opinion, yes, illegals should receive medical care and it is our border issues that need to be addressed and until that happens we as a society will have to consider the options if we do not allow illegal citizens any medical care
