Adele Gains More Fans and Success with Her Album 21

Adele has one of the biggest selling albums of 2011. 21 is her follow-up to her Grammy winning album, 19, and it was released on February 22, 2011 in North America.

The British soul singer is capturing hearts and souls with her heavy written songs that are crafted by studio professionals. She sings of catastrophic heartbreak, self examination, and unrelenting revenge. Many of her songs are crafted by Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic), Rick Rubin, and many others.

Many of the songs in 21 were inspired by Adele's ex-boyfriend who broke her heart.

Some of the best songs from 21 are "Rolling in the Deep," "Someone Like You," and "Set Fire to the Rain." Her songs delve deep inside the soul and the music is shaped by southern blues, American country, folk, and Motown influences.

21 made the Guinness World Records for most consecutive weeks at number one, with eleven, and most total weeks at number one, with eighteen. The album went on to be certified 10-times platinum and topped the Billboard 200. So far, 21 has reached global sales at an estimated 10 million copies.

Many don't know that the term rolling in the deep is a slang phrase that means, in her words "to always have someone that has your back." And, she almost named the album this, instead settling on naming one song by the term.

Her album is so utterly real and deep that fans hear it, feel it, and see the imagery that she puts in front of us. Only a true artist can do that. You feel her guilt, pain, remorse, love, and hate.

I personally love her music because she is so out of my normal music style (of what I listen to). She is so right on lyrically, creating images in my mind as I hear the lyrics. And she puts things in to words that we only think of, but can't define much less put into words.

Yes, she does have a special voice - sort of an Amy Winehouse without the drugs and abusive lyrics.
