2011's Best Album

There are artists who can go beyond the surface of the soul and effectively sing songs that express the sentiments of the frailties of love in its peaks and valleys phases. My favorite 2011 album is Adele's '21' for it is a deeply personal and emotional delivery of the hearts pleasures and pains. A follow up to the debut release of the album '19' in 2008, Adele appears as a mature lover that realizes that love is a continuous process of understanding raw emotions. Adele's 2011 album release of '21' not only is a musical standout but also keeps listeners engaged while traveling on a journey of the complications of love and the remnants of disappointment it leaves when lost. The sound of Adele's voice is always soothing throughout each song on the album despite exploring the pitfalls of imperfect love. Adele's album '21' starts with "Rolling in the Deep" with an infectious beat that tells a story of a heartbroken lover that recognizes the scars of a love that was almost wonderful but not quite meant to be. The song is a victorious triumph of expression while rolling in the deep levels of emotions of a person acknowledging one's hurt feelings while choosing to abandon bitterness. "Rumor Has It" is a sassy song telling a former lover that rumors are flying that the new love is not as great it seems. The former lover recognizes that the past lover is much better than the new love who has not met all expectations. "Turning Tables" is a ballad about when love becomes a fight and the breaking point when a person realizes allowing someone to hurt you without regret is no longer an option. "Don't you Remember" is a song that speaks of the pain of someone leaving without saying goodbye and wondering if the person still thinks about you. "He won't go" takes the album back to an up-tempo groove as acknowledgement of being better off without a former lover. However, it is complicated when a person knows it is time to move on but still wants to work things out for the moment. "Someone Like You" is homage to a past love that has found someone else and wishing the person the best despite still loving the person. Overall, Adele's '21' is a solid fourteen-track album that is music to the ears and comfort to the heart.
