ADHD Storms from Stress, as Predicted

I wish I could say otherwise, but, as predicted, Clark's storms continue. He had one this morning when I asked him to turn off the TV and come down to breakfast. He was throwing things, so I had to pin him down on the floor until he calmed down. And, true to form, after he had eaten and felt better, he apologized.

He and his sister spend four days with their dad and grandmother. It was supposed to be fourteen days. Then they trimmed it to seven days. Then four. When they dropped the kids off, Bobby and his mother left so fast my head was spinning. They brought the kids in the house, made sure everything was out of the car, kissed the kids goodbye, and walked out.

Outside by the car, out of the kids' hearing range, I confronted Bobby about coming back for Clark's seventh birthday next week.

His mom butted in,"Oh, he can't. The drive is so long...."

"And I'm broke," he added.

"This is for Clark, not for me," I reminded them. But they had already decided.

On the bright side, it seems they all had a good time, and the kids came back with new shoes, clothes and toys from a shopping spree at Walmart.

I wonder how it feels to love your dad yet not trust him. I don't have ADHD and as an adult I'd probably have storms if I felt that confusion.
