The Wine Tasting Experience
Our wine tasting group for the visit to Adirondack Winery consisted of 5 adults. This was our first visit to Adirondack Winery, and we had been looking forward to the experience. Michael, the owner, served as our wine tasting host during our visit. The winery carries all of the wines that you have the chance to sample, as well as a variety of wine related items and gifts.
The wine tasting session allowed us each to choose 5 different wine samples to try, with one wine pre-selected as the wine of the week. The variety of wines to choose from was excellent. We each were given a wine tasting booklet which listed the wine samples by type. After selecting our wines individually, we marked them on the booklet and Michael began to serve us our selected wine choices.
There were four main categories of wines to choose from on the wine tasting list: White wines, Fruity wines, Red wines, and Dessert wines. The dessert wines were only a dollar more to sample. A description of each wine was listed for style, flavor, aroma, and specific tones. This made it very helpful for those in our party who were not as familiar with wine. We added a small Vermont cheddar cheese plate for $3 with our sampling. The cheese was delicious, so much so, that we purchased a block to take home.
The wine tasting experience at Adirondack Winery was not only excellent, but also memorable. It became one of our favorite experiences of our visit to Lake George. We enjoyed it so much that we came back the next day for a second wine tasting to try more wines. After we finished our wine tasting, we purchased a few bottles of wine to take with us. The Wild Red (Black Cherry Pinot Noir) was amazing.
Wine to Go
In addition to offering wine tasting, Adirondack Winery is also a fully stocked wine store, selling a variety of wines produced on site. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the wines, ranging from $13.25 to $25.00. Discounts are available for larger orders and for those who become members of the Wines-A-Month Club. Adirondack Winery ships wine several states. If you plan a wine tasting, be sure to bring some extra cash to purchase your favorite sample wine. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we all enjoyed the wine samples, and it was difficult to decide which wines we wanted to purchase.
