Adjusting to Contact Lenses

Adjusting to Contact Lenses - A few helpful hints that will get your eyes feeling alot better with the new use of contacts. The first thing that I can say from personal experience is to ALWAYS make sure that you keep your contacts clean. If you have to take them out for any reason make sure that you clean them with a saline solution. This will help to ensure that you do not get eye infections and irritation.

~ If you are having trouble adjusting to putting in your contact lenses make sure to not put to much pressure on the situation, try to relax and that will help them to go in smoother. Always make sure that you have clean hands when you are putting them in.

~ You may experience dry eyes at some point or another make sure that you keep a bottle of contact safe eyedrops near by. This will help to ease the irritation of dry eyes caused by contacts. There are several new products on the market that will help with this. The good thing is you can find them just about anywhere these days and you don't have to have a prescription for them.

~ If you are going to wear makeup apply it after you have your contacts in. If you apply your make up like eyeliner etc before putting them in there is a chance that the makeup could get onto the contact and cause you irritation or even infection. I cant stress enough how important it is to have clean hands when you put them in.

~ Don't sleep in them, although some brands are "ok" for this it really can cause damage to your eyes or even to the contacts themselves. I have woken up with mine attached to the inside of my eye and couldn't open it no one wants to go through that.

~ If you start to get really wet watery discharge coming from your eyes its more then likely an eye infection you will need to see a doctor. If this happens take the contacts out of your eyes as soon as you can it will only make it worse if you leave them in.

~ Get into a routine, after wearing your contacts for the day make sure that you clean them with solution and store them in a case that is sterile. You may want to also use a saline solution in your eyes one that is meant for your eyes not for the contacts. This will help if they feel uncomfortable after you take them out.

~ Getting used to them in your eyes is the hardest part but after you have gotten through this usually within a week you will be alright. They are a lot less hassle then glasses and as long as they are taken care of and cleaned they will well serve their purpose. I hope that some of this helps enjoy your contacts.

These are good tips. I sometimes still have problems with my contacts and choose to wear my glasses instead.
