    Oh, in case you can't tell, I hate this day, I think and have always thought it was demeaning.

    See, there it is "Not JUST a secretary anymore!" Pulease. I was a secretary from 1969 to 2008. yeah, they change the name to admin. asst at some point. Doesn't mean a thing. A secretary is a secretary, and they'd been performing administrative duties for decades without recognition. I don't want a special day, all I want is respect and money.

    They totally deserve a special day! Thanks for the reminder and ideas.

    I couldn't do my job without the support from our administrative assistants. They deserve more than one day a year!!

    I am an Administrative Professional, and I only learned about this "day" recently. To tell the truth, we really should have a day for ourselves - especially as it is a fading profession. These days young women just out of college take secretarial jobs as stepping stones to something "better" and the art of being a good Assistant is falling sadly by the wayside. This also means that the people they assist end up having to find a new assistant every few years - which isn't good for them.

    I'd like to have a "lazy old broad who sits on the couch and writes all day" day.

    wonderful article, very interesting. There are so many "days" anymore; more and more each year - this year I'm down- sizing, making a personal stand and only acknowledging holidays that society & family force; like christmas ect. (;
