Adolf Hitler Donates to Obama

So says Rick Moran at The American Thinker. In "Adolf Hitler Donates to Obama Campaign," Moran writes that "Today, the Republican National Committee filed another complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging massive fraud and lawbreaking by the Obama campaign in their fundraising activities." Another obviously fictitious contributer? "Nodda Realperson."

The Republican National Committee is alleging that the Obama campaign has accepted foreign donations, donations from unknown sources, and has failed to provide adequate oversight of contributions made to the campaign. Moran cites a statement from Republican National Committee Chief Counsel Sean Cairncross that says,

"Based on numerous press accounts that have come to light since our initial filing in early October, it is clear that the Obama for America campaign is operating outside of the law. The complete and total lack of any control mechanisms within the Obama campaign's fundraising operation has undermined any confidence in their ability to curtail excessive, foreign, and fraudulent contributions and demands immediate attention from the Federal Election Commission (FEC)."

Moran makes an additional allegation: "That's only the half of it. It appears that Obama's fundraising apparatus has deliberately disabled a key piece of security software that would prevent 'Adolf Hitler' from giving to his campaign."

Moran is referring to the Address Verification System, and provides an example of how Adolf Hitler was able to make a donation. He cites a credit card verification expert on how the Obama campaign could manipulate the system:

"It's called the Address Verification System (AVS). When you submit a credit card to the processor for authorization you get back one of four responses: zipcode match, address match, both match, or neither match. AVS is automatic and can't be turned off. You can, however, override it in special circumstances. It looks like Obama's web site has the AVS-override turned on permanently."

And what happens if you try to submit a fake name to the McCain campaign using an actual credit card number? According to Moran, the transaction is rejected. Moran then says, "Another GOP tester of Obama's system gave money using his overseas credit card. It passed with flying colors. For contrast, anyone donating to Hillary Clinton's campaign from a bank overseas would have had to fax a copy of their passport in order to have the donation accepted."

Given the record breaking dollar amounts Obama has been able to collect from donors, Moran says, "If these safeguards were not in place, we are probably looking at the most massive lawbreaking in the history of United States election. It will make puny efforts pale in comparison. And not even Bill Clinton could have come up with this kind of gargantuan scheme (he is probably jealous)."
