Adopt a Healthy and Healing Lifestyle: Ancient Health Compared to Modern Health

Dearaewi
Now, more than ever, people are much more conscious of their health and fitness and more and more people are turning to natural sources. People are seeking out natural and herbal remedies when they are ill as well as to maintain their health. Herbs, vitamins and supplements are now considered mainstream rather than alternative although they do still carry the label 'alternative medicines'.

In this modern society, where everything moves at an ever-increasing pace, it is important to remember that we must still take care of our bodies. Lacks of proper nutrition, rest or exercise have adverse affects on our bodies.

The practice of natural health has evolved specifically in response to the increased pace of everyday life. Natural health presupposes that we are better at healing and maintaining our bodies with long-term, healthy regiments, rather than with a bunch of 'quick fixes'.

Adopting a 'natural health' lifestyle can give your body the chance it needs to function at its best. Whether you are young or old, fit and healthy or not, this is right for you and can improve every aspect of your life.

Natural health living is actually a large group of different practices. It can include natural remedies, natural healing, nutrition and a proper fitness regime to mention a few.

One of the basis of natural health, herbalism is actually one of the oldest medical techniques known in many parts of the world. For instance, in the Egyptian natural healing practices, their application of herbs is generally combined with their traditions of magic that leads to the concept of amulets and gems. The Egyptians, with their natural herbal practice, discovered, perfected, and passed down the art of mummifying which was done with herbs and spices. Original mummification techniques have never to this day been duplicated.

In ancient India, their natural health practices are known as Ayurveda. It dates back approximately 5000 years and has a very detailed history. It is interesting to know that this is still practiced today in many parts of the world, including the United States. They mainly use herbs, breathing, and meditation, together with diet for the overall wellness. It is also considered that this technique is based on balancing and sustaining the five elements of the body being earth, water, fire, air and ether.

Then we have Chinese herbalism which is about 3500 years old and founded by the ancient Chinese spiritual leaders. These healing arts are still practiced today, not only in its place of origin but also in other parts of the world. In fact, Chinese herbal medicine is renowned as one of the most absolute and effective herbal traditions these days. It is generally practiced in combination with massage, acupuncture, diet and the art of movement and breathing known as Tai Chi.

With the popularity of herbal healing, many other forms of herbalism such as the North American Native Indian herbalism and the folk medicine developed and emerged. And today, several combinations of these mentioned traditions are well-practiced in many health centers along with the new Western practices.

Practicing natural health methods will help you to handle all the stress that comes from everyday life. When you are healthier, you are also more likely to be able to look at every situation in your life in a positive light.

Natural health also ensures that your body is being taken care of not only for the moment, but also for as long as you continue to incorporate these practices into your lifestyle.

Give your body all the help it needs, so that you can continue living life to the fullest living naturally.
