There are thousands of children right here in America alone waiting in foster homes for families that will claim them for there own and give then that love and care the child so desperately needs. Every year nearly 400 babies will be placed for adoption at birth. Every year nearly 3,000 children will be placed in foster homes and placed for adoption, many who will spend their entire lives in and out of homes without finding that one true family who is willing to claim him/her. While some children will be adopted either before birth or shortly after, there are many more who will wait a very long time, sometimes even forever.
I Want My Own Child.
Most people dream of having children of their own. A lot of people cannot have children of their own. If you adopt a child, it IS your own. You have made an oath to be that child's mother and father. The child is not a loan, it is YOUR child. It may not be your child biologically, but it is still your child. There are many options to choose from to determine to the perfect child for your family. You have the option of sex of the baby, eye color, hair color, and sometimes even genetic backgrounds of biological parents.
Fears.
One factor that comes into play with most families that are considering adoption is fear. Fear is the number one cause of the low number of adopters we have. Some are afraid of how well the child will adapt to them. Others are afraid of rejection, not being approved. In the most common cases, many couples are skeptic about adopting for the fear that the biological parents will try to reclaim their child, or the child will grow up and try searching for them. The number one fear is not knowing if this child is going to be healthy or not. When you become a parent, whether it is biological or through adoption, you are going to have fears. You take on the responsibility to love and care for that child. If you are willing to go to the extents of adoption, then it is all worth it.
Cost.
A lot of people do not think that they can afford to adopt a child. This is especially true for young adults just starting out. Although adoption can be costly, there are many resources available to help with the adoption process. There are agencies that help with some of the financial responsibilities of the adoption process. There are also many lawyers that help families adopt a child.
The Gift of Love.
There are many families whose lives have been changed forever by adopting a child. There is no better gift you can give a child than the gift of love. Children are out there everywhere waiting for people to take them into their arms, to feel the security every child should have. When you are thinking of having a child, first think of those children who are ready to have a family. The greatest gift from God, is the gift of a child. The greatest give from you, is the gift of love. There are many beautiful, smart and loving children who is waiting for loving parent's such as yourself.
