Tongue Depressor Penguins
Supplies: 1 popsicle stick, 1 large tongue depressor, black and white paint, fun foam (yellow and orange)
Directions:
1. Paint your popsicle stick white and paint your tongue depressor black.
2. Glue the popsicle stick into the middle of the tongue depressor. Draw two eyeballs on the popsicle stick with a permanent marker.
3. Leave an inch or so for the three buttons (just make dots) near the bottom of the white stick.
4. Use the orange fun foam to make a beak; think about using a pumpkin seed shape as your model.
5. Glue the beak under the eyes.
6. Make a scarf and hat out of yellow fun foam.
7. Attach the hat to the black place above the eyes, and put the scarf on below the beak. You can stick a magnet or pins on the back for display.
Penguin on an Iceberg
Supplies: Toilet paper roll, paint, drink trays, paper, glue
Directions:
1. Get a drink tray from a fast food store. Turn it over and paint the bottom of it white. This will become the iceberg.
2. Paint a toilet paper roll black and white to make it look like a penguin.
3. Cut out some black construction paper and glue it on for the feet.
4. Add the beak and eyes.
5. Glue your new penguin to the iceberg.
Penguin Puppet
Supplies: Paste and various colored construction paper
Directions:
1. Take a piece of black construction paper and make it into a long roll.
2. Take two pieces of paper and make them into wings, and then paste them to the back of the roll.
3. Cut a long white oval for the stomach.
4. Make small orange feet, and then make a small rectangle for the beak, with a triangle on each end. If you fold it twice (right where the triangle bottoms should be), there will be about a half-inch for you to glue the beak on the face.
Penguin Tracing
Supplies: Markers, white paper, large black paper, orange paper
Directions:
1. Get your child to lie down on the large black paper.
2. Trace around the body, with the child's arms close to his side and the feet spread out.
3. Cut a white oval for the stomach.
4. Make black and white circles for the eyes, and cut out a triangle from the orange paper for the beak.
5. When you are done, you will have a whole squadron of penguins!
