The duties of a governor general is to represent the ruling British Monarch in Canada. The governor general carries out administrative duties and also celebratory or festive activities.

The Clarkson legacy

Minister and Privy Council offices

Adrienne Clarkson was somewhat of a paradox, she brought dignity to the role of governor general and at the same time she was known to break protocol.

She was also criticized for elevating her position as governor general even above that of the Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

There was often a battle between Lieutenant General's roles and her role when presiding over a provincial function.

Still she was a strong and loyal female role model for Montrealers and Canadian women everywhere and is a female icon in Canada today.

Women do well in politics and seem to have hidden talents in that capacity! Maybe if we elected more women there would be less wars! I would definitely vote for a woman president if one would run! Thanks for sharing!
