Adrienne's Clarkson's education

Adrienne Clarkson graduated from Lisgar Collegiate Institute, one of the finest high schools in Canada, in 1956. She then went to Trinity College, University of Toronto. Adrienne won the Governor General's award for English while attending the university. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1960. Adrienne went on to La Sorbonne in France, one of the most prestigious universities in the world, to continue her post graduate studies in English.

Adrienne's marriage and family life

It was there that she met and married, Stephen Clarkson, a political science professor. The couple had three children together; Kyra the eldest born in 1969 and the twins, Chloe and Blaise in 1971. The family suffered a tragedy when Chloe died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome at the age of 9-months-old. The family life continued to unravel and the couple divorced four years later.

The kids were awarded to Stephen Clarkson who had full custody rights. Later his second wife, Christina McCall adopted the children. The couple went on to have a child of their own which they named Ashley. Consequently, Adrienne was estranged from her own two children for many years.

Family is one of the biggest concerns for women's issues and women can only imagine the pain Adrienne Clarkson must have felt when she did not have communication with her children all those years.
