Adrienne by D. Renee Bagby - Book Review

Denise
Adrienne by D. Renee Bagby, is an interracial, fantasy romance novel. The heroine is black, the hero is Asian. Malik, a King on another dimension has to get married before he turns 25 years old. If he doesn't, he'll have to give up his kingdom to someone he suspects killed his parents. A mage locates his queen just in the nick of time. Adrienne is a college student who is working late for her professor. She was on her way home when she is stopped by two angry students who intend to rape her. Malik rescues her by killing them and takes her back to his kingdom. She expects to go home, but she wakes up in a strange room, with Malik telling her that he is a king and she will be his queen regardless of how she feels.

She's on an alternate dimension called Bron, and an assassination comes with being his queen. Malik abducts her, killed her attackers in front of her, takes her from her precious family, a college graduation and everything she knows. Adrienne is afraid as well as angry with him. She is his perfect match, according to the spell, so will Adrienne surrender to him and give him the love that he so desperately needs? From the moment he abducted her, this story is so romantically sweet full of conflict as well as funny. When she finds out what he has done, she gets so angry-and that part is hilarious! Malik is patient towards her and so understanding of the situation, you cannot help but support his character.

He was forced into a position of taking over the kingdom when he was very young. Because of that he is a hard and very fierce ruler. Adrienne who is used to be coddled and not living in the real world, grows up and learns to take control and make her own decisions. I like the fact that even though she did not want to be queen, she very easily had it in her to be one. She proved that she was his match in many ways. Malik is so used to doing things his way, but once he finds true love, he knows the importance of making her happy. I bought this fantasy romance as an ebook. If you like talking animals, magic and reality mingled together, this book has it all. Comedy, romance, danger, conflict between hero and heroine runs throughout the book. This is fantasy fiction at it's best. This was very well written. I loved it!
