If you use adult cloth diapers to manage your incontinence, you'll no doubt want to make sure you are cleaning them properly. Failure to clean them in the best way possible will not only cause the adult cloth diapers to harbor bacteria, infections can also occur. To keep this from happening to you, you'll want to take the following steps to insure that your adult cloth diapers are squeaky clean and ready for good use for best optimal incontinence management.

First things first, you need to remove the solid waste from the adult cloth diapers before proceeding with the rest of the cleaning process. This makes matters a lot easier, as you will not be fooling with a stinky, gooey mess, and the cleaning process will go much smoother. You can either take the mess out of the diapers with gloves or then throw it into the toilet, or you can invest in liners. If you use liners in your adult cloth diapers, this process is so much easier because all you have to do is remove the liner from the diaper and then flush it. If you are worried about these liners being environmentally safe, there is no need to because they are biodegradable.

Once there is no solid waste in the diapers, fill a pail up halfway with water. To this water, add a fourth cup of vinegar. Let the diapers soak for a bit and then come back to them. After the diapers have soaked, put them into the washing machine. Set the water to a hot temperature so as to kill all of the bacteria. It is recommended that you do not use regular laundry detergent, as it can be too harsh on the skin. Use unscented laundry detergent or Dreft, the laundry detergent that is used for babies.

When the diapers are dun washing, you will want to run them through the rinse cycle twice. This is to insure that all of the soap is out of the diapers. Put a cup of vinegar in the last rinse cycle to see to it that the diapers are fresh.

When washing them is complete, you have two options for drying them. You can either put them in the dryer or you can dry them outside directly in the sunlight.

Following these steps will insure that your adult cloth diapers are clean and fee of bacteria. Not to mention, they will be fresh.
