Advair Side Effects

AT the age of 6 my daughter was put on advair. She has asthma and takes several medications for it. She took this medicine for a year and a half. It helped control the effects and causes of asthma attacks. She had fewer and fewer and didn't have to go to hospital for emergency treatments as often. She would normally get pneumonia 6 to 8 times a year, but on this medication she only had it twice. That to me makes it a godsend.

The side effects we noticed we noticeable after 6-8 months of consistent use of the medication. These side effects were not listed as possible side effects. This medicine is a steroid and should be viewed in the same way one would view anabolic steriods. The side effects of one are as possible as the side effects of the other. Moodiness, body changes, premature aging of body parts and functions were just the tip of the ice berg. My beautiful 8 year old daughter now has to contend with puberty 2 to 3 years earlier than she would have had to deal with had she not been on this medication. She needs a bra now. I have had to have the talk about body changes and menstruation with her. Its frightening to see that my 8 year old now has an almost grown womans body. She has this body now becuase of the steroids in this medication.

According to her pediatrician he has seen this effect reported as nearly impossibile. He told me "I would list this as the one in a million result that nobody really believes they will ever see in their lifetime!" My child now has to begin birth control to control hormones that should still be dormant. Hormones that she can't even pronounce yet! I remind everyone that one bad review does not mean the medication should be pulled off the market. Actually, I would go so far as to say that had we not started her on the medication, she would be dead by now. In that regard, I would gladly take these new issues and struggle with the problems they will undoubtedly bring and be grateful for them. Without Advair my baby girl would be long buried and that would be an even greater tragedy!
