Reflection: Imagine being one of the Israelites who is being lead out of Egypt. You might be thinking I'm finally going to be free! However, what you see up ahead doesn't look like freedom at all. You've been walking in a desert, you are hungry, thirsty, (phew) and you need a shower! You look ahead of you all you see is an impossible situation. You are facing a huge sea of water which you have no way to cross. For a split second you think maybe I need to turn around and go back. So you glance over your shoulder & off in the distance your see Pharaoh's army coming at you with their horses and chariots. You can't go back and moving forward looks next to impossible! Looks like you are going to have to trust God.
God had lead the Israelites on purpose a different way, because he didn't want them to change their purpose & return to Egypt when they saw war and opposition. When God leads you a more difficult way, determine that you will trust him to get you through your most impossible situations. The narrow path less traveled with much war & opposition has life & purpose. The wide road, greatly traveled ends in death and destruction. Which will you choose?
Exodus 13:17 When Pharaoh let the people go, God led them not by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was nearer; for God said, Lest the people change their purpose when they see war and return to Egypt.
Luke 4:43 But He said to them, I must preach the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom of God to the other cities [and towns] also, for I was sent for this [purpose].
