Advantages of Attending Trade School Instead of College

Todd Hicks
Are you a high school student who does not have an interest in going to college? Are you a student or the parent of one who cannot easily grasp the course material and get good grades? If you answered either question affirmatively, there is something interesting you should know. Attending college is not for everyone. You will learn why training in trades might be better than attending college for most people.

The First Possible Reason for this: Not everyone is college material. There are some who are "good at the books" while many others are not - it is very hard to do well in college and get a degree.

The Second Possible Reason for this: This can be your way of saying, "I'll show them!" In my opinion, high schools in general have a heavy bias against students going to a technical school.

The Third Possible Reason for this: This is a great opportunity for one to work with his or her hands. Many people have more of a mechanical aptitude than an intellectual aptitude.

The Fourth Possible Reason for this: This can be an excellent career choice to make. By doing this, you can gain hands-on job experience.

The Fifth Possible Reason for this: From what I have learned, a college degree is just a worthless, four-year receipt. Many employers for various jobs and positions demand that applicants have the experience that directly pertains to the position. How can you get the experience if they will not let you get it? Many college graduates such as myself do not find a good job if they can find a job at all. If I had it to do all over again, I would probably pursue a trade.

The Sixth Possible Reason for this: You might not have to spend too much time doing it. It might take you less time to learn a trade than to get a four-year degree.

The Seventh Possible Reason for this: There is a possibility you will save money. It might cost you less to complete technical school than to complete college.

The Eighth Possible Reason for this: This can be your golden opportunity for direct placement. I have heard Ranken do radio commercials saying they help nearly 100 percent of their graduates find a position in their field.

You have learned how it might be better for most to train in trades than attend college.
