The Forced Air Heating System is the most commonly used simply because it can deliver heat to every room of your home from one furnace, and can also deliver air conditioning in the summer months. It does this by bringing in air from outside heating the air up then blowing the warm air through metal heating ducts to each room. Vents can be placed either in the floor or on the ceiling. Heating vents are usually placed near the draftiest part of the room like windows or doors. The Forced Air Heating System is controlled by a thermostat which can be pre set to a particular temperature. When the temperature in the room drops below the preset temperature the Forced Air Heating System prompts the gas valve to provide fuel to the burners or pilot light. When this is done the burner inside the combustion chamber is ignited creating heat which is then blown throughout the duct work. Being a rather inexpensive furnace to install and that it can double as an air conditioner is why it is the most commonly used furnace in Northern America.
Some disadvantages to the Forced Air Heating System are that it requires duct work throughout the house which takes up wall space. The Forced Air Heating System will leave your rooms with uneven heat meaning some spots are warmer than others. While the Forced Air Heating System brings in air from outside it also brings in the pollens and allergens into your house. You will hear the fan going on your Forced Air Heating System so the noise is another disadvantage. So if you have bad allergies or asthma the Forced Air Heating System would not be a good choice for you.
If at any point you have a funny smell coming from your vents have them cleaned out this will take care of the smell and give your home a better heating this winter. Certified technicians suggest that if your furnace is older than 1980 you should have it replaced doing so will save you on that energy bill.
