Advantages and Disadvantages to Wearing Steel Toe Boots

Are you thinking about purchasing some steel toe boots? Many people wear steel toe boots, but they're not for everyone. In this article, I will discuss some advantages and disadvantages to wearing steel toe boots.

Steel toe boots are useful in certain industries.

In certain types of industries, it is a very good idea to wear steel toe boots. One example of this would be the construction industry. In the construction industry, you may work around heavy machinery or other heavy objects. So if you wear steel toe boots, you will be much less likely to break your toes if you happen to have an unfortunate incident. Even if a car were to run over your toes, you would probably be okay as long as you are wearing some steel toe boots.

Self defense.

Steel toe boots will definitely benefit you in a fight because they're so heavy. These boots basically triple the amount of damage you can do to your opponent, which will make them go down much faster. Even if you face a really strong opponent, one well placed kick will probably take them down. I'll let you use your imagination as to where you should place the kick.

Heavy.

Unfortunately, steel toe boots are quite heavy. So if you're fighting someone, you will tire very easily if you're not used to the boots yet. And forget about running in them. Steel toe boots will not only exhaust you when you run, they can also cause blisters to form on the heels of your feet. With time, your body will adapt and form callouses.

These callouses are basically hardened skin that will not blister easily. However, if you want to run, there may be another option for you. Steel toe shoes also exist. These shoes are heavier than your average shoe, but they are light enough to run in. And with time, you'll become used to them.

Metal detectors.

One other disadvantage to wearing steel toe boots is the fact that metal detectors will cause you some grief. Airports are one example of where metal detectors may cause you problems. Of course, most people have to take their shoes off at airports anyway so that's not really a major concern. The real dilemma is when you're not at an airport.

Federal buildings like courtrooms often have metal detectors at the entrance of the building. More than likely, if you are wearing steel toe boots, you will have to be searched by the security staff in order to proceed into the federal building. This can be a timely process, so you may want to switch shoes on that day.

As you can see, wearing steel toe boots has its advantages and disadvantages. But if you can overcome these disadvantages then you will be better able to defend yourself, and you will be safer as well.

In the Middle East, parts of Africa, Korea and Thailand, it is considered rude to show the soles of the feet to others (even accidentally, such as by crossing the legs).

I actually love running in steel-toe boots. For a race, I switch over to running shoes, which feel super light by comparison. Great for training if you ask me.
