Ceramic space heaters are fast becoming one of the most popular heating options. So what are the advantages of ceramic space heaters?
Ceramic space heaters are best for heating smaller spaces like rooms rather than the whole house. As well as ceramic space heaters, there are lots of different types and makes of space heaters available, including fuel burning, electric radiant, electric oil filled and electric fan ones, but it is ceramic space heaters that are really leading the field now.
Ceramic space heaters use ceramic heating coils and ceramic plates with aluminum that control the flow of heat. The ceramic plates are heated as electricity passes through them and the heat is then absorbed by the aluminum and radiated into the room. Some ceramic space heaters also have fans that blow hot air into the room.
The advantages of ceramic space heaters include their portability and compactness: they can easily be moved from one room to another and only need a two-foot radius around them for ventilation purposes.
Ceramic space heaters can be used for heating larger areas and in fact are more efficient than radiant heaters in this respect. Having said that, if you're going to use ceramic space heaters to heat a larger area you should probably buy a model with a fan.
Ceramic space heaters also have safety advantages. The temperature of the working parts in ceramic space heaters equipment is very low compared to other space heaters and most models have in-built mechanisms to reduce the flow of the electric charge at around 380 degrees Fahrenheit, reducing the risk of fire. Many ceramic space heaters have additional safety features like a timer, touch sensor, overheat sensor, thermostat, manual heat adjustment, fan speed adjustment, digital display and remote control.
The running costs of ceramic space heater are also much lower than with conventional home heating systems because they do not use much electricity. Ceramic space heaters heat up quickly and so are more energy efficient.
Now, you know a bit more about ceramic space heaters, you can decide for yourself whether they are the right heating option for your home.
