Adventure on the High Seas

Travel of the Widow

Katheryn (Kat) Markle

The rain was gushing as if the sea had turned upside down and discharged itself upon the land...

The ground was saturated and everyone out in this downpour was drenched to the bone. There was a chill in the air and a gloomy tone of murkiness slowly settling in this humble community along the easterly shores of South Carolina. The violent storm had churned into a moving ridge that was near the size of a title wave. The ocean had become tempestuous and now there was massive flooding following.

Fearfulness grew over the townsfolk as almost all the town sat in about ten feet of water. Masses of humans were frantically trying to escape the overwhelming and rushing, murky waters covering the entire place, except for a couple of taller constructions allowing anyone there to guess where everything was.

Back at home, in Oregon, Sheila Doral was set up for her trip to the beach then mountains. She had a two-week vacation that she had planned and organized for a while. Her life had been too hectic the past year or so. She decided to take a relaxation trip all her own.

She wedded young and when her partner passed on, they had lived together 22 years. That is when she became a widow woman at the age of 43. A widow who had no children, no friends, no lover, no family, nobody at all. Not even a pet. So she decided to travel.

In fact, Sheila was a pretty woman at her age, appearing like she was perhaps thirty-something. Her long, copper-colored, rippled hair was beautiful and natural. Her long eyelashes and large green eyes made her a beauty for sure. She was petite, close to 5'2", one hundred ten pounds, pearl skin, and pretty much ordinary.

In addition, Sheila had done all of her mourning in private. Her husband was cremated and the ashes were put into the sea. He loved the ocean as much as she did. That is where they met and that is where they married, on the beach in Oregon at his uncle's home.

It had been 3 months since he passed on, but the weather had not been warm enough for her to go.
