Everyone knows that if you're going to be fighting off hordes of aliens, that you need some big guns. Therefore that pilot, Rick Rocket, is ordered to fly an experimental aircraft known as X-01. So now comes the question, with game play like Asteroids, is The Adventures of Rick Rocket just another space shooter, or is it really worth the price tag?
Game Play
The challenges that players face when playing The Adventures of Rick Rocket are many and can be challenging. Objectives range from shooting down alien space ships with the X-01 upgradable rocket ship, or protecting Hearths space stations. Like most games, with each progressing stage the challenges become harder and increasingly complicated.
Throughout the game players can collect 12 different upgrades, ranging from armor for the X-01, to just heat seeking missiles. The storyline of the game is very detailed, and players must help Rick Rocket find out why the aliens are attacking Earth. Each mission to save Earth is totally replayable so players can attempt to top their old scores.
Graphic
While not as impressive as they could be, the graphics featured in The Adventures of Rick Rocket do add more depth to the game. As Rick's X-01 space craft travels through space, planets can clearly be seen in true 3D graphics. Similar to that are the stars in the background, which have the appearance of having depth.
Sound
Everyone knows that great sound effects can lend to the story telling effects of a game, and the developers of The Adventures of Rick Rocket know this to some extent. My Game Company gave this project their all, with a great sound track of songs that give Rick's space shooting adventures a superb feeling of being more involved in the game.
Creativity & Innovation
With a total of 48 missions, The Adventures of Rick Rocket is well worth its price tag. Those that are fans of classic space shooters will jump for joy from the mere sight of this game. It's almost hard to believe that such a game could have so many features, each one paving the way for players to enjoy each level of space shooting fun.
Final Score
4/5
