Using Sponsor's and Donations for Your Special Day

As we sink into harder times and money becomes a challenge we have to be creative in our planning of special events. For many couples nothing is more special than the day they marry. Everyone would like to have the best wedding possible to share with family and friends, but when you've been laid off your job or you're just fighting to keep your financial head above water you need a new solution.

You can now create and run with the idea of a donation and sponsored wedding day. It's an advertising paradise for businesses, clubs and individuals with services and talent, but little money of their own. For sharing your day with them you can have a wedding close to your dream with a twist.

First contact several businesses or organizations for information on what they can help with or provide. Invitations can be simple, sweet and easy if you consider a sponsor such as a local car dealership or private owner needing a less expensive way to promote their company. They pay for the invitations and you agree to let them add "Invitations Sponsored By .........." at the bottom. It becomes one of the most beautiful business cards on the market.

If you want to have a cake of beauty and aren't too worried about complete perfection contact the local 4-H club and ask if they will do a cake for your wedding if you agree to place a framed picture of the designer and club name on the table with the cake. Many of the members will jump at the chance to help with a wedding in order to provide practice for those who do their best. They need to practice designing and decorating cakes, but they can't keep eating them all.

Ask family and friends to bring snacks such as cookies, a veggie platter, chips, soda, coffee and anything else to make the wedding festive and fun. Food is always the number one attraction after the wedding and at the reception. You can also contact caterers and ask for a small donation in exchange for business cards regarding their business.

Once you begin you'll find there are a lot of private owners struggling to find a way to advertise and promote their businesses without going into further debt. For small donations you agree to add their business cards to a small goodie bag for each guest. Include a few chocolate coins and a note of thanks to everyone who attends and the services that have helped make this day special for you and your spouse. Ask them to please contact the sponsor if they can provide a need.

The idea's are endless for sponsorship of a wedding or just about any event. You can take into consideration the dress, the flowers, the decorations, the children, the room and of course the honeymoon. You may get a lot of rejections at the beginning, but leave your name and number in case they change their mind. This is a great way to advertise on a personal basis for businesses and once it catches on you can have a great wedding at a fraction of the cost.
