Websites are a great way to take your advertising to a whole new level. You may have to spend a few bucks on this, but if you offer the type of services that allow your customers to buy directly from the internet, it could all pay off. Many internet surfers are also online shoppers and would much rather order from a website than visit the store in a lot of cases. Be sure to place your website into a search engine.
With the right wording in search engines, you may survive on the internet advertising alone, but you should always have a backup. The yellow pages are a great way to advertise and your customers will be local, making it easier for them to reach you as well as making a long time customer.
Word of mouth is another way to advertise. One person finds out about your services and like them, they in turn tell ten other people, and those people tell ten more, and so on. Once word gets around and your business is a service that others need in that particular area, advertising works for itself.
Flyers are another great example of advertising and this method is virtually free other than the cost of printing them. Take a day and send out flyers to potential clients, use bulletin boards, and anything else that you think that your future customers would see as they are going about their busy day.
Business cards are something that every business should have whether you are advertising or not. Anytime you talk to someone or meet someone new, hand them your business card. They may never use it, but there is that slim possibility that they will or they could hand it off to one of their friends who may very well decide to take interest in your small business.
You should be aggressive when it comes to advertising, but not too aggressive. You don't want your potential customers to run the opposite direction. Getting the word out is sometimes difficult depending on what location of the world you live in. In a lot of rural places it may be very difficult to find the right selection of clients depending on what your business services are. But advertising widely could bring in potential as well as long term customers. Advertising is a full time job. You can't just stop doing it. You have to continue advertising on a daily basis, even on your days off. Make a name for yourself and your business, so that when someone hears your name or your business' name, they know who and what it stands for.
