Dear President Obama,
Max grew up as the son of a man who knew 'ALL' the answers to the problems of the world. Max's father said so! Many times, his father let everyone know that anyone who didn't know that he had the answers was a turkey or a knucklehead.
The famous Ma Bell, the second most powerful force in the world (next to God of course), thought so much of Max's father's opinions, that she made him 'Supervisor of Troubles'. This is true!
The advice Max promised you, President Obama.
When everyone thinks they know you, change your approach a bit!
Max is one of those very predictable people who most people can read on sight. It can be very boring to be like that, but it is a lot easier than being president.
Mr. President, the people you work with definitely need some level of certainty. Yet there are some people you work with that you may need to shake up occasionally or you will get pushed around. When some of the political players get to know how you respond, they only need to change what they ask or deny to get you to do their will.
You know that, for some people, politics is about doing the right thing for the people. You also know that for many in politics it is about getting what is good for themselves.
If someone is saying no to you and they know that you will not stand up to them, you might as well let them be president. You need to get something for every action such people need from you. If people start playing you, you need to treat them accordingly and respond with a clear denial of something they want. In doing so, they need to know that you will give in relationship to what you get. Of course, you don't want to do this in words so much as in actions.
To most Americans you seem to be an okay guy. Yet at the same time it is not clear how you are going to deal with the really big problems that are going to be waiting for you once your team gets the economic problems in hand.
Americans do want to be seen as an important part of the international issues. Americans want the seas to be free from any restriction in international waters. Americans are proud of the history of putting an end to piracy and would like to see the seas free from this behavior.
Americans are smart and they know that we live in an interdependent world. They are worried about the dangers that such a world creates and are unsure whether we are reasonably prepared to participate in a world where borders must be as safe as airline terminals.
It is not clear yet whether you or our country is speaking to the troublesome leaders of other nations with a firm voice and from a firm direction.
Max and the American people believe every president deserves respect.
Max wishes you well in all your efforts to correct those who disrespect you.
Max writes about greenways, rare diseases, timely topics, places to eat, travel and other issues of interest. He encourages you to add your comments.
Link one is on respect and concepts of respect.
