Max's advice for March 4, 2009
Dear President Obama,
Max grew up as the son of a man who knew 'ALL' the answers to the problems of the world. Max's father said so! Many times, his father let everyone know that anyone who didn't know that he had the answers was a turkey or a knucklehead.
The famous Ma Bell, the second most powerful force in the world (next to God of course), thought so much of Max's father's opinions, that she made him 'Supervisor of Troubles'. This is true!
The advice Max promised you, President Obama.
Mistakes are often hidden under the guise of successes; learn from them.
Max spent over thirty years in technical development of software solutions to business problems. Many of the so-called solutions just helped the companies hide the mistakes in languages that were not well understood by managers.
Mr. President, we were not attacked by Iraq. The blood we have shed there exceeds the blood shed on 9/11. The decision to shed blood in Iraq versus Afghanistan, the nation state ally of Al Queda where the attack on the United States was set in motion, may have been intended to focus us away from this quagmire.
We will never know the real reason we attacked Iraq instead of focusing our energy on eliminating Al Queda and providing the rest of the world with a 'lesson' on what we do to those who attack us.
Though you are sending a large force to Afghanistan and Iraq is winding down, you may find yourself doing exactly what the Bush Administration did - focusing all the energy in the United States on the wrong problem.
The problem we should be solving for is setting an example of the culprits and those allied directly with them. Your organizations need to determine how to reach into the space they occupy and take away from them everything they care about. It is not about killing anyone. In fact, keeping them alive and incapable of acting would be the best example that one could make of them.
They need to have their internet access revoked permanently. I suspect the people at NSA may have some ideas on how to create interference in the area they are living in.
In places outside Pakistan and Afghanistan, pockets that support these organizations need to find everything they do difficult to impossible. It is important that our clandestine branches earn their keep. If they can no longer imprison anyone they want, let them find ways to make the lives of anyone supporting Al Queda unbearable.
The United States cannot be a super power or even a power if it is powerless to act. Where governments claim to be our friends and allies on fighting terror, we want to get them involved in isolating pieces of this organization. Like polio, we need to go from country to country until this virus is no more.
Max wishes you well in all your efforts to end the threat to America.
Max writes about greenways, rare diseases, timely topics, places to eat, travel and other issues of interest. He encourages you to add your comments.
