Afflicted Faith - Demo Music Review: Genre Metal

Baron Craze
Afflicted Faith is a metal band that has new demo, that is untitled, this CD does not have the new guitarist Chris Fietz who replaced Taylor Mortimer the rhythm guitarist on amicable grounds. However, this band still fierce and a force to be reckoned with and is not a copycat band that does often surface on MySpace - this is a fiendish delight! Afflicted Faith has three intense songs that put the pit audience squarely into the bands target range. The first song is Patriot Raised, it has an original sound, the vocalist seems a little like Dani Filth at times, but however leans more to his own style, though song does not suffer from this at all, as it not the standard flare. As for the duration of the song, it is a little over two minutes, with many tempo changes, which allows the audience to realize this demo is not the basics.

The track two, named Wrong Side, presents the musicians as not guitar slug heroes, but as technically possessing knowledge of their chosen craft, meanwhile, the drums and guitars were as one on this polished demo. The track improves upon the opening track, and makes the statement do not take them without a lot of ammunition. The song provides touches of progressive metal, yet it is not excessively.

Wish For Clean Death, is the final track, and perhaps with a fitting title, as the song has a great opus, as the guitarist makes the fret board an extension of himself. This is a serious, with both harshness and starkness on multiple levels. This is what DEAD MAN WALKING needed, the is no longer similar or hinting referencing style to Cradle of Filth or In Flames, as the vocalist is performing well, giving the others in the band a striving point. The drummer gets his just dues in this song, the final notes of this repeat from the opening to close out the CD.

So far, this CD has remained in my player, and I have added the third track to my MP3 player, this demo has no trash on it. Afflicted Faith should be opening for many headlining bands fairly soon, though that headline band should watch out since this is only a demo, as full length disc would transform the audience into a pack of flesh devouring dogs!
