Affordable Home Security Systems: Much More than an Alarm

Protect Your Family & Home

If you think that a home security system is not something you need, then you are not alone. There are thousands of people that have the best high tech security systems that money can buy in their automobile, but believe they do not need one for their home. Do you value your vehicle more than the safety of your family and home? Just ask around and you'll hear many stories of how home security systems have helped people to be safe and have even saved lives.

Here's two ways that it has helped my family. My teenage daughter was babysitting one night when she heard someone trying to open a bedroom window. She immediately hit the silent alarm button on the system and hid in the closet with the baby. Luckily, there was an officer close by and caught the guy before he could get inside. My sister-in-law was sleeping alone in her house one night while my brother was at work. Her security system detected smoke in the house and sounded an alarm, notifying the fire department. Thanks to the quick responses, she got out of the house and very little damage was done by the time the firemen got there.
When you think of a home security system, the first thing that comes to mind is someone breaking into your home to rob you. Well, this happens more than we'd like to think about and having a home security system may be what saves your possessions. However, that's not the only job of security systems. Security system control panels can also be used to summon police, fire or emergency medical help with just a push of a single button.

There are several add-on sensors and detectors that you might also find helpful, such as door and window sensors or indoor and outdoor motion detectors. You might also be interested in the add-on siren to help scare possible intruders away. If you live in flood lands, there is a flood sensor that will warn you when the water gets too close. Most alarm companies do not charge any extra for add-ons.

If price is the reason you haven't thought of installing a security system in your home, then maybe it is time that you check it out. Security systems come in many price ranges, with several being affordable to most people. Some security companies are even offering free systems and installation. There is a monthly charge for the service, but the average price is only $100. I know you might think this is a lot to spend each month for something that you may never need, but an added bonus to having a home security system is that a lot of insurance companies will give you a discount for having it.

Now if you are finally thinking about getting a security system for your home, my best advice is to check out several companies before deciding on one. Find the one that you feel can give you the best protection for your money.

I would consider a prevention to a burglary as an important step. If you play a CD with household sounds that will make your apartment or house look occupied to whoever listens outside of your front door, I am sure you have achieved a lot by warning a burglar. An interesting product is on the market. Downloadable MP3 file that you can burn on 5 CDs from www.SuperDeterrent.com. www.AudioGuard.com has a similar product.
