Nashville does have a bit of assistance programs available that can provide you with affordable housing options that can help keep your home affordable.

Urban Housing Solutions has a few different housing programs. Each is designed to offer studio, 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartment homes in various parts of the city much less than regular rates for apartments in the same area. UHS does have program requirements you must meet to qualify for their programs.

Metropolitan Development & Housing Agency

MDHA has several properties located throughout Nashville offering affordable housing solutions for residents of the Nashville area. MDHA usually has a waiting list that can be 12 months or longer. Individuals must meet program rules and regulations to be considered for housing. MDHA is a federal subsidized housing program in accordance with the Federal government. Rent is based on flat rates or a percentage of your total monthly income.

Richland Hills

Richland Hills apartment complex offers special units for income based housing. An application process is required, along with passing of a rental history and background check.Rent rates are based on 30% of your total household income. Waiting lists average 12 months. 1,2,and 3 bedroom units are available at this West Nashville complex..

Habitat For Humanity

Habitat for Humanity offers a home ownership program for low to moderate income families in the Nashville area. Homes are built from the foundation up with the assistance of the new homeowners and volunteers. Mortgage payments are affordable so those who may not otherwise have a chance at home ownership can have a home of their own. Individuals must meet certain qualifications to be considered.

Howe Garden Apartments

Another income based apartment complex in the area, Howe Garden offers 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units with rents based on 30% of your total household income. There is also a waiting list here, of between 6 and 12 months. The apartments are located in the East Nashville area.
