Affordable Winter Fashion - Cheap but Stylish

Missy Slink
The winter months always have their own unique styles, different from any fashion symbols put out during the warmer months of summer, spring, or fall. However, for many people, purchasing an entirely new wardrobe primarily for the winter months is simple out of the question, due to monetary constraints. Fortunately, if you happen to fall into this category (or if you're simply too wise and practical to even attempt to purchase a new wardrobe for winter), here is a guide to affordable winter fashion items.

Scarves are one of those staple winter items that seem to always be in style, year after year. Available in a huge selection of styles, scarf fashion seems to differ upon the practicality of the region that you are living in. For example, warmer region's fashion scenes seem to encourage more of the use of silk, patterned fashion scarves while colder regions are filled with chunkier winter wool scarves. While many department stores in the mall are offering such silk fashion scarves for sale, cheaper stores like Wal-Mart are also offering lovely versions of these scarves for only $5, much less than other store's prices. The Dollar Tree actually also has a decent assortment of cute, chunkier winter scarves for those who are residing in colder climates. Finally, you can create an unending assortment of winter scarves yourself by crocheting or knitting them out of high quality yarns; this is definitely a great way to have a large selection of scarves with which to accent your wardrobe.

Another fashion staple this winter season is nylons/tights. Since they are the only way to keep your legs warmer while wearing a cute skirt during the colder months, they are pretty much an essential to a girl's wardrobe. Fortunately, these are fairly affordable and can be purchased from any department store (or even grocery store) for low prices. I would suggest having a few pairs of darker colors (such as black, navy blue, dark brown, or gray) to match with your various outfits.

Finally, as anyone can tell this winter season, boots are definitely an "in" item. Sadly, most of these fun and trendy boots are only offered at relatively expensive prices, considering the limited practicality of such fashion items. Personally, I have found that stores such as Ross often have some of these cute boot trends for more affordable prices than the larger mall department stores. However, many of these boots don't actually keep your feet dry during these winter months. To solve this problem I would suggest actually putting your socked foot into a loosely wrapped plastic bag and then putting your foot into your boot. While your boot may get wet, your feet will still stay relatively warm and dry.

This winter, as you shop for new and fun fashion clothing items, try to focus on buying items like these that will most likely stay in fashion for many years to come. This way, you will be getting the most for your money and you wardrobe will look great too.

I agree with Missy that scarves are a staple winter accessory. Love the cheap but unique and fashionable scarves at Forever 21, Yours Elegantly an online site that donates to Women and Children's Welfare Organizations, Express, Macy and not to forget H&M.
