After Bizarre "Today" Show Interview Has Dina Lohan Finally Lost Touch with Reality?

Sources close to Dina Lohan and her daughter, actress Lindsay Lohan, are concerned Dina isn't facing the reality of her daughter's situation and isn't properly seeking the help the trouble star needs.

After her appearance on "Today" with Matt Lauer Friday many were left asking if Dina had a grip on reality, and it wasn't just the viewing public. Her own family and friends, who for years have been telling Dina her daughter had problems and needed serious help, have come out to say Dina is out of control and the family life at home is dysfunctional.

A longtime Dina Lohan associate spoke exclusively with TMZ Sunday and said, ''Dina was out of control. ... She simply doesn't get it. She sees herself and Lindsay as the victims of an unfair press. ... I think she has totally lost all touch with reality.'' When asked directly by Matt Lauer during the interview on Friday about Lindsay's bad behavior, out of control lifestyle and drugs, Dina Lohan said it was "all propaganda" and that people are "reading things that are not based on fact." She reiterated to Lauer her daughter doesn't have a problem.

Dina took the opportunity to spin the attention she and her family have received into being stalked and harassed by the Paparazzi and money hungry friends and family members, including ex-husband Michael Lohan. She also used her time on the show to take shots at the Judge in her daughter's case saying she played "Hard ball" with Lindsay and was unfair to her when sentencing her to 90 days in jail and 90 days in a rehab facility.

She also told Lauer her daughter would be out of rehab sooner than the 90 days she was sentenced to.

But sources with the NBC show are reporting Dina Lohan stormed off the set after the interview and became irate about the way she thought Matt Lauer was handling the interview. Another source close to the Lohan family backed up the report from the "Today" show set by telling TMZ, "Dina soon may go off the deep end. She was furious with Matt after that interview, thinking he was unfair and abusive. ... She's living in fantasy land."

Sources with "Today" said Lauer was shocked by Lohan's responses to the questions he was asking, and attempted to speak to Dina after the show to offer advice and help.

Dina Lohan continues to deny that she is turning a blind eye to her daughter Lindsay Lohan's problem with drugs and alcohol. If her Twitter page is any indication though, she clearly is in denial of her daughters problems. Many of the tweets are in bold upper case letters and describe everything from the incident where Carvel Ice Cream took away her daughter Lindsay's Black Card for abusing the privilege, to calling on Twitter users to help her get Lindsay's case before the Supreme Court.

Michael Lohan contacted TMZ after the "Today" interview to say his ex-wife needed ''to go to rehab for her denial, lies and other things.''
