After Hurricane Katrina I often heard my granny say
Oneday a hurricane gon sweep this city away
We all took that advice for granted
August 29th the hurricane landed
Oneday a hurricane gon sweep this city away
We all took that advice for granted
August 29th the hurricane landed
Many slept expecting it to be over by day
While others was drowning as the levee's broke away
Water swept thru the city like a thief in the night
Water rose in my house and I ran for my life
Water rose fast as I tried to carry my granny out the door
She said "Baby you go head, I'm ready to go"
Alligator, vicious dogs and snakes passed me by
That's when reality hit and I began to cry
She said "Glenda it's ok, you go on"
I'll see you on the other side in our new home
The waters rose and granny drowned
I waited 5 days on my roof and wrote this poem Glenda Marie Robert
