After You Payoff Credit Card Debt

Many people have been lured to privileges they enjoy with credit cards. Some even opt to have several credit cards to avail of more credit facilities from various suppliers and enjoy maximum purchases on credit. Due to this opportunity, their buying habits are changed from merely focusing on their necessities to extensively buying unnecessary things. The readiness of credit card which is as good as cash, afford them to become big spenders. Their ability to payoff their outstanding credit card debt with suppliers makes them more confident to maintain their credit standing with various card providers and continue their irresponsible use of their credit privileges. However, they fail to realize that in the long run, they become losers because they have to carry the big burden of paying their monthly bills.

Some users become wary and disciplined in their buying habits when confronted with inability to settle their account on time. But after they have paid the amount in full, they go back to the old habit of buying excessively, and the cycle goes on and on.

Credit cards are instruments to give us security from handling money, but they become bad instruments depending on our use. Therefore, in order to have a peaceful mind free from financial troubles, it is highly recommended to follow the following measures:

1. Do not be an impulse buyer of special offers with big discounts even if the items are not really needed.

2. Avoid extravagance just because you hold a credit card ready-to-use to make purchases just like in cash.

3. Discard show-off attitude to your friends who cannot afford to have a credit card, by maximizing your purchases to get their attention.

4. Maintain a 70% level of your credit limits on purchases.

5. Keep track of your monthly statement of account and have the habit of paying the full amount on time.

6. It is advisable to carry only one credit card at a time and a maximum of two cards as needed.

Credit cards provide us protection from the risk of carrying money wherever we go and the accessibility to make payments if we ran out of cash. But we must realize that it is better to have a life with zero liability rather than accumulate material things on credit, and make our life miserable in the end due to pressures of meeting the demand for payment of our debts. The rules laid out in properly using our credit cards must therefore be closely followed.
